A private transfer from Copenhagen to Roskilde takes about 35 minutes (about 40 minutes from the airport). Most visitors book a 4–5 hour half-day tour covering Roskilde Cathedral (a UNESCO site where Danish kings and queens are buried) and the Viking Ship Museum on the fjord, from €120/hour (3-hour minimum). One-way transfers, including to Roskilde Airport and Roskilde Festival, are quoted at a fixed price.
Roskilde was Denmark's capital before Copenhagen, and it has two of the country's most important sights within a short walk of each other. It's close enough for a relaxed half-day and pairs well with Lejre's Land of Legends or a lunch by the fjord.
