A private transfer from Copenhagen to Helsingør takes about 45 minutes on the motorway, or an hour along the Strandvejen coast road. Most visitors book it as a half or full day with a chauffeur (from €120/hour, 3-hour minimum), visiting Kronborg Castle, the M/S Maritime Museum and often the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art on the way. One-way transfers, including to the Helsingør–Helsingborg ferry, are quoted at a fixed price.
Helsingør sits at the narrowest point of the Øresund, just 4 km from Sweden. For centuries every ship entering or leaving the Baltic paid a toll here, which built Kronborg, the Renaissance fortress that inspired Shakespeare's Elsinore. Today it's the most rewarding day trip from Copenhagen, and the drive itself, past beaches, deer park and sea-view villas, is part of the pleasure.

Ferries cross from Helsingør to Helsingborg in about 20 minutes, many times an hour.
