Nyhavn, the 17th-century canal lined with coloured townhouses and wooden ships, is Copenhagen’s postcard view and one of its most popular places to stay. It’s also very close to the airport. The only complication is the last few metres: the quayside is pedestrian, and cobblestones aren’t kind to suitcase wheels.

Nyhavn has a cluster of hotels in converted warehouses and townhouses along the canal, plus the grand Hotel d’Angleterre at the Kongens Nytorv end and Copenhagen Strand on Havnegade. - Nyhavn is busy in summer evenings. Arrivals before noon are calmer.
